The Algerian startup Yassir seeks to conquer the world of carpooling and home delivery services. The startup has already paid off despite the country’s notoriously complex business climate. As a taxi and home delivery company, Yassir has millions of users and is growing across Africa.

After earning a PhD from Stanford and spending most of his working life in Silicon Valley working at various companies, CEO Noureddine Tayebi returned to Algeria to get involved in the country’s burgeoning tech scene to start a business. and to develop technical talents in the Maghreb region (Algeria, Morocco and Tunisia).

Yassir generates income by taking a commission on the services it offers. The startup provides on-demand services such as ride-sharing and last-mile delivery. It raised $30 million in Series A capital in November 2021. Since its launch four years ago, Yassir has grown exponentially. In terms of traction, over 3 million people and 40,000 partners across all of its markets are now using the platform.
