French singer Alizée has opened up about cultivating a close, communicative relationship with her 21-year-old eldest daughter, Annily, noting that open dialogue has cleared the path for a peaceful bond. In a recent interview with magicmaman, the artist discussed motherhood, parenting her children from a young age, and collaborating on a new fashion line.
Focus on Nurturing Creative Freedom Through Open Communication
- Alizée shares two daughters, 21-year-old Annily and nearly 7-year-old Maggy, maintaining relationships built on trust and open communication.
- Annily credits her mother with granting her total personal freedom during her upbringing, particularly regarding style and self-expression.
- The mother-daughter duo recently partnered with Lulu Castagnette and Gémo to co-design a children’s clothing collection.
Reflecting on her upbringing, Annily highlighted the creative autonomy her mother allowed her to have from a young age. Rather than enforcing strict aesthetic standards, the singer chose to support her daughter’s individuality. “I remember, I had shoes that weren’t pretty, they said they were ugly shoes, and she let me wear them because I liked them,” Annily told magicmaman.
That early latitude evolved into a deep-rooted sense of trust as Annily managed her teenage years and early twenties. “I’ve always had a mom who trusted me, who always supported me in everything,” Annily added. “For any event that could happen in my life, I was able to talk to her without being afraid. Communication is very important.” When asked to describe her daughters in three words, Alizée simply offered, “Perfect for me.”
Co-Designing a Family Fashion Line with Gémo
This close familial dynamic naturally spilled over into the professional sphere. Alizée teamed up with French brands Lulu Castagnette and Gémo for her second design collaboration, marking a shift from her previous solo capsule. For this new venture, she brought Annily directly into the creative and design process alongside the brand’s in-house teams.
“I really chose everything with the Lulu team to make a collection that I love, with fabrics, prints, things that look like me,” Alizée explained to magicmaman. The design process heavily featured pink as a central motif, a color deeply tied to the singer’s aesthetic history and her household. “My first album was pink and, in our daily life too, at home, we are very pink. At my daughter’s house too, everything is pink.”

Practical Fashion for Everyday School Life
Balancing high-street style with practical functionality remained a primary focus for the co-designers. The resulting collection emphasizes comfort and accessibility, tailoring garments specifically for everyday school wear rather than runway events. “We wanted to make pieces that little girls can wear like their moms, but still to go to school,” Alizée noted. “Comfort above all: we are not going to a fashion show, we are going to school. But she also has to feel pretty in the morning when she leaves.”
The collection spans accessible price points across Gémo’s retail network, including a girl’s tee-shirt priced at €8.99, a girl’s jean at €19.99, and an inclusive unisex sweatshirt retailing for €25.99.
