All 11 defendants convicted in September 2019 riot case

On September 29, 2019, a protester launched a march in Causeway Bay, and then surrounded the Admiralty Government Headquarters. Some people sprayed petrol bombs and sundries. The police drove away with water cannons and tear gas, and arrested a large number of people and charged them with rioting. Eleven of them denied a crime of rioting. After being interrogated by the district court, they were convicted today (23rd) and sentencing will be sent to September 9th. The 11 defendants in the case are Zhang Weiqing (21 years old, unemployed), Zhang Kaixin (18 years old, student), Zhang Mingyan (23 years old, computer technician), Lin Zhuoxuan (18 years old, student), Feng Haoxuan (26 years old, clerk), He Manheng ( 19 years old, student), Zheng Xiaorong (18 years old, student), 16 years old student surnamed Liang, Xie Zijian (21 years old, unemployed), Li Yingxin (21 years old, student) and Su Jiayu (21 years old, student). They are charged with participating in a riot outside the government headquarters on Harcourt Road, Admiralty, on September 29, 2019. Among them, Zhang Weiqing and Feng Haoxuan had to be quarantined due to their confirmed diagnosis of new coronary pneumonia, so they were absent from the hearing today, and the case of the two people was postponed to September 5 for retrial.
