Released between 2009 and 2015, the Batman Arkham games from Rocksteady Studios left excellent memories for fans of the Dark Knight and others alike. Batman: Arkham Asylum, Batman: Arkham City and Batman: Arkham Knight are preparing to land on Nintendo Switch in a compilation available from December 1, 2023.

On the occasion of the Nintendo Direct in June 2023, Warner Bros. Games has announced the port of Rocksteady Studios’ three Batman games to Nintendo’s hybrid console. The compilation will include Batman : Arkham Asylum, Batman : Arkham City et Batman : Arkham Knight as well as all of their DLC. It will be available from December 1, 2023 on Nintendo Switch.

With more than 130 million Switches sold since 2017, Nintendo has hit very hard. The opportunity for the Japanese manufacturer to give a second life to most of the games released on Wii U, a console which had not had the same success. But the formula doesn’t only work with home games, and the Nintendo Switch continues to enrich its catalog by offering ports of the biggest hits of the last ten years.

Among these successes, it is impossible not to mention the trilogy of Arkham games from Rocksteady, which marked a generation with games respectful of the universe of the Dark Knight. Batman : Arkham Trilogy will therefore be an opportunity to discover or rediscover the saga, with the exception of Batman: Arkham Origins, the prequel episode which Rocksteady did not take care of, and which did not leave an excellent memory. Behind these ports, we find the American studio Turn Me Up, which recently took care of the Switch port of the wonderful It Takes Two.

Important clarification regarding the physical version: the cartridge will only contain the first opus, Batman: Arkham Asylum. You will therefore need an internet connection to be able to download the other two games and all the DLC.

If you’ve never played the Batman Arkham games

Released in 2009, Batman: Arkham Asylum features the Dark Knight while he finds himself a prisoner in the famous Arkham Asylum, thanks to a ploy put in place by the Joker. In addition to having to escape, Batman will have to face the other “patients” of the asylum, who are none other than the most emblematic villains of the Batman universe like Bane or of course Harley Quinn.

Two years later, the direct sequel arrives. In Batman: Arkham City, the former director of the asylum, Quincy Sharp manages to get elected mayor of Gotham after Batman’s exploits, and founds Arkham City, a sort of open-air prison city which brings together all the former asylum internees. Suffice it to say that Batman’s help will be necessary to keep Gotham safe… For the first time, players have access to the entire city of Gotham in the open world.

In 2015, the third part of the Rocksteady saga was released. Batman: Arkham Knight is a new direct sequel, in which Batman will have to face a new threat, that of The Scarecrow and his famous fear toxin… We find the city of Gotham in an open world with new districts, but also and above all the Batmobile, which will be a central gameplay element of the adventure.

Batman: Arkham Trilogy will be available from December 1, 2023 on Nintendo Switch.
