The number of infections, hospitalizations and deaths from the coronavirus are all on the rise. This is what emerges from the first figures published Thursday morning by the public health institute Sciensano.

Some 8,145 new Sars-CoV-2 contaminations were detected on average per day, between March 7 and 13, up 28% compared to the previous week. Over the same period, there were an average of 20 deaths per day (+16%).
The reproduction rate of the virus is 1.09. When it is greater than 1, this indicator means that the epidemic tends to accelerate. The incidence, which provides the number of new cases per 100,000 inhabitants, reached 881 over 14 days.
