Ohio Governor Mike DeWine revealed that Amazon Web Services intends to invest $7.8 billion by 2029 to expand data centers in the state.

Amazon Web Services’ data centers are the second-largest private sector investment in the state’s history.

According to the statement from the governor, the new data centers will house computer “servers”, data storage engines, networking equipment and other forms of technology infrastructure used in cloud computing.

The statement stated that the Ohio State government is studying a number of areas for the establishment of the new project, provided that the final location will be determined at a later time.

Dewine stressed the importance of the project in light of the increasing reliance on cloud computing, noting that the new investment would help new and existing companies grow, as well as provide access to educational and entertainment resources via the Internet.

It is noteworthy that “Amazon Web Services” had launched its first data center in the Midwest in 2016, in addition to achieving more than two billion dollars in economic revenues for the state of Ohio, in addition to creating more than three thousand jobs in the state.
