A delegation from the “American Support Group for Lebanon ATFL” headed by former Ambassador Ed Gabriel visited the Army Commander, General Joseph Aoun, at his office in Yarzeh, and discussed ways to continue supporting the army to carry out its missions.
The US delegation, in the presence of US Ambassador to Lebanon Dorothy Shea, met with Deputy Speaker of Parliament Elias Bou Saab yesterday afternoon in his office, where they discussed the issue of maritime border demarcation, in addition to ways to support the development of parliamentary cooperation.
The US delegation also met the Vice-President of the Supreme Islamic Shiite Council, Sheikh Ali Al-Khatib, at the council’s headquarters, and they discussed developments in the situation in Lebanon and the region.
Al-Khatib stressed, “Israel is creating problems and crises in the region, and it is still attacking Lebanon in its land, airspace and marine resources, while the US administration is biased towards the usurping entity. Therefore, we demand that this administration change its policies in the region and deal fairly and equitably with its issues, especially the Palestinian issue in a way that returns the refugees.” The Palestinians return to their homes after the occupation has been defeated from their land and the establishment of a future Palestinian state with its capital in Al-Quds Al-Sharif,” stressing “the need for the displaced Syrians to return to their homeland and help them in Syria, especially since their stay in Lebanon carries dangerous consequences that it cannot bear.”
