The American start-up Vast has announced its intention to create the world’s first commercial space station. It should be launched within two years.

Why is this important?

In recent years, private space companies have made great strides in making space travel more accessible to individuals. But so far no company has built a private space station. Currently, only two stations are in orbit: the ISS and the Chinese station Tiangong (Heavenly Palace).

In the news : On Wednesday, Vast announced that it had signed a contract with Elon Musk’s space company SpaceX to launch a module of its space station, Haven-1, into space in August 2025 at the earliest.
