An abandoned mule rescued in Béclers: “Catastrophic suffering”

The non-profit organization Animals in Peril seized a mule in Béclers, in Hainaut. It was ordered by the Animal Welfare Unit of the Walloon Region. According to Sophie Locatelli, vice-president of the association, the animal was abandoned “because the owner is sick“. The feet of the animal have therefore grown due to lack of maintenance. “I estimate that there is at least 10 years of absence of veterinary care“, sighs Sophie Locatelli. “The suffering is catastrophic, the joints of the mule are completely deformed.

Uncertain vital prognosis

Currently, the vital prognosis of the mullet is still uncertain. “We must analyze the possibilities of an operation“, explains the vice-president of Animals in Peril.
