The newspaper “Foot Africa” revealed the decisions of the International Football Association (FIFA) in Algeria’s complaint regarding the replay of its match with Cameroon in the qualifiers for the World Cup Qatar 2022.
According to “Foot Africa”, the International Football Association (FIFA) decided to postpone the ruling in the case of the complaint submitted by the Algerian Football Association against Gambian referee Bakari Jasama.
And the newspaper specialized in sports affairs says that this decision was expected, especially since the Algerian Football Association changed its strategy in this case, and requested the opinion of the FIFA arbitration committee headed by Al-Lamaa, head of the Italian “FIFA” arbitration committee, Pierluigi Collina.
Therefore, it is likely – according to the newspaper – that the suspense will continue in this issue, which has captured the attention of sports public opinion over the past few weeks.
The Algerian Football Federation (FAF) wants to repeat the second round of the qualifiers, as long as the match is distorted by the decisions of Gambian referee Bakari Gassama.
The newspaper says that it is difficult to achieve this Algerian request, especially since no evidence was presented to confirm the Gambian arbitrator’s involvement in a corruption or illegal betting case.
On the other hand, the same newspaper indicated that the Egyptian Football Association would be ready to file an appeal before the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), in the event that the decision of the International Football Association (FIFA) confirmed the outcome of the Senegal-Egypt match, which ended with the victory of the Teranga lions and their ascension to the World Cup.
She indicated that there are three scenarios in the case:
The first: rejecting the request of the Egyptian Football Association without imposing sanctions on Senegal (which is a highly unlikely scenario, according to the newspaper).
The second: Confirmation of the result gained on the field, with the imposition of sanctions on the Senegalese Football Association (a very likely scenario according to the newspaper)
The third: a replay of the match in a neutral stadium (which is also a highly unlikely scenario according to Foot Africa).
