An evangelical pastor named Ezequiel shared a video in which he is seen preaching and calling to destroy statues of Gauchito Gil. In the images that went viral, he is seen justifying the destruction of the images of the pagan saint while another young man hits an altar with a fire extinguisher.
“We are here for the glory of God, We have come to tear down an altar, look how big it is”, the pastor begins, while his companion takes a fire extinguisher of the kind used in cars and tries to tear down the image.
“They have eyes but do not see, they have a mouth but do not speak, they have ears but do not hear, let’s tear down in jesus name”, continues the religious. Then they are seen tearing up a cross and destroying the offerings that the devotees of the saint leave the patron to ask for or thank for favors.
The video was shared on Twitter by the user @bamelnegro and very quickly went viral: already lCam more than 6 million reproductions in one day. Some users repudiated the fact and others pointed out that it incites violence.
