Cyberpunk 2077 is a game that has been both highly anticipated, acclaimed and reviled. If now its major bugs have been fixed, it still drags a bad reputation behind it. In this new JV Debate, we wonder if Cyberpunk is an overrated software.
Cyberpunk 2077 is a game from the studio CD Projekt (The Witcher) both acclaimed and criticized. It had all the elements to become a major title, including headlining Keanu Reeves, but its bugs marred the experience. If the corrections on PC arrived in the first three months, the console players found themselves a little neglected. Besides the various correction patches, the narration is – too – rather disappointing. For example, our protagonist must make several dialogue choices during the adventure, most of which will have no impact on the grand finale. The Polish studio promised mountains and wonders with this software, which was to be the quintessence of open modes, to finally become a relatively “ordinary” game.
A rich role-playing game
However, Cyberpunk 2077 is full of secrets and fascinating characters anchored in a rich universe, which has its own codes. Everything is thought out: from social ranks, through the habits of NPCs, to a unique verbal language. Elements that immerse the player in a dark, violent city, ruled by corporate money. As a role-playing game, the title meets all expectations thanks to its multiple personalities and intertwining stories. So yes, Cyberpunk 2077 did not manage to impose itself directly, in particular because of its many bugs. However, CD Projekt has not finished with it and has continued since the beginning of 2021 to provide it with many patches that will forever correct its faults to make it a cult software. The police and chase system will soon be revamped, but we explain all this in detail in the JV Debate at the top. Therefore, if users decide to download it today, they will absolutely not have the same experience as three years ago.
