COMMISSION II DPR RI summoned the General Election Commission (KPU) and other institutions related to the implementation of elections to hold an evaluation meeting for the 2024 Election on May 15.
“Continuation of yesterday’s session meeting,” said Chairman of Commission II DPR Ahmad Doli Kurnia when contacted in Jakarta, Friday (3/5). According to him, a number of institutions invited were still the same as at the previous meeting, namely the KPU, the Election Supervisory Body (Bawaslu), the Election Organizer Honorary Council (DKPP), and the Ministry of Home Affairs.
During the previous session, Commission II of the DPR held a meeting related to the 2024 elections in parliament, Monday (1/4). However, the meeting was postponed due to the absence of representatives from the KPU.
Meanwhile, member of Commission II DPR Guspardi Gaus said that at the evaluation meeting many things would be confirmed to the KPU related to the holding of the 2024 Election. Things that would be confirmed, he said, included, among other things, related to various public opinions regarding the holding of the 2024 Election.
Apart from that, legislators in Commission II will confirm the issue regarding KPU Chairman Hasyim Asyari. “We will also question its supervisory function. Why is it barren? Why doesn’t it impose sanctions?” said Guspardi when contacted separately.
Previously, the KPU did not attend the invitation to the DPR Commission II meeting because it coincided with the agenda for the 2024 Presidential Election dispute trial at the Constitutional Court (MK). After the trial at the Constitutional Court was completed, the KPU appointed the Prabowo Subianto-Gibran Rakabuming Raka pair as the elected candidate pair for the 2024 presidential election.
