A preliminary investigation into manslaughter was opened by the La Roche-sur-Yon public prosecutor’s office following the death, at the end of September, of a man treated at the city’s Saint-Charles clinic, reports the public prosecutor, Sarah Huet. The victim was 32 years old and the father of three young children. He died on September 28 at the health facility.

The day before, he had undergone a surgical operation intended to install a gastric bypass type band, an intervention which consists of reducing the volume of the stomach in a context of obesity.

The family is trying to understand what might have happened. She filed a complaint. The clinic told him that the patient had suffered from sepsis, according to West France. The investigation must make it possible to clarify the medical causes of death. An autopsy was carried out in early October.
