Prices are rising, bookings are not slowing down

Munich (ots) – Sun destinations instead of November blues: Many travelers are drawn to warm destinations at the end of the year. This is proven by the monthly evaluation of the quality rental car organizer Sunny Cars. The most popular countries include Spain, Portugal, Italy and Greece. For long-distance travel, the USA leads. In contrast to previous years, what is particularly noticeable is the strong booking intake. With almost 60,000 reservations, the company recorded more bookings than ever before in November.

Trend bookings:

“The rental car business remains a very short-term business even in winter,” says Thorsten Lehmann, Managing Director of Sunny Cars. “The majority of all bookings in November were for the current month and December 2023.” Only a sixth of the reservations received relate to the summer of 2024. While over 37,000 bookings were received in November 2022, the number this year is significantly higher at over 59,000 reservations. This strong start to the new financial year (beginning November 1, 2023) goes down in the history of Sunny Cars, because the starting month has never been so high before.

Price development:

Rental car prices are rising again. After prices fell significantly in the fall, the price level has been rising steadily since October 2023. The average price in November was 464 euros – Sunny Cars last recorded costs of this amount in July 2023. Compared to the same month last year, however, it can be seen that the price level fell overall. The prices in November 2022 were still around 514 euros.

Trend target areas and booking channels:

Greece is catching up: With almost five percent of all bookings, the country on the Aegean Sea is moving further up the top ten. However, the three leaders remain unchanged: Spain is at the top of the scale, followed by Portugal and the USA. Around a third of all reservations were made through stationary travel agencies.
