Analyst: Apple Successor to the iPhone 16 Pro Max with three 48-megapixel cameras

A few months ago, Jeff Pu, an analyst at Haitong International Securities, announced that the next generation of iPhone ( Apple) will have a 48-megapixel ultra-wide-angle camera for the first time, at least in both models Pro (iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max), provided that the latter is not renamed iPhone 16 Ultra, as has been rumored for some time.

Today, Mr. Pu once again published an analysis on the future of the iPhone (via Macrumors) and projects even further back in time. In 2025, almost two years after the release of the iPhone 15 Pro Maxthe replacement of the 12-megapixel cameras should finally come to fruition, at least in the iPhone 17 Pro Max, which should have not only a 48-megapixel main camera and an ultra-wide-angle camera, but also a telephoto lens 48 megapixels. The analysis does not mention whether this also concerns the normal Pro model, and technical details are still lacking.

According to Pu, the new zoom camera will be specifically optimized for the Vision Pro spatial computing glasses, which will launch in early 2024. Naturally, these early references to Apple products should be viewed with great caution, especially since Apple’s plans for 2025 are far from finalized. Still, Apple at least appears to be moving in the same direction as the rest of the smartphone industry, albeit at a much slower pace.
