Presented with “Catorce reflexiones sobre el fin” (Green Recorder). ANGELICA CASTELLO once again an impressive example of their extraordinary musical idea.

It is fascinating to see how musician, sound artist and composer Angélica Castelló expresses her musical skills and artistic vision in her latest release “Catorce reflexiones sobre el fin”. The fact that they made these pieces specifically for an installation in Museum of Contemporary Art of Oaxaca composed shows her ability to interact with other art forms and create a total work of art.

Angélica Castelló uses a variety of methods and sound sources to create her music. Field recordings, voice recordings, tapes and fragments of their own earlier pieces as well as borrowings from other works are used. Through experimentation with different playback formats, analogue and digital processing, improvisation and deconstruction, she creates an electro-acoustic sound spectacle that has no fixed structure, but nevertheless unfolds a hypnotic and mysterious power.

The soundscapes of “Catorce reflexiones sobre el fin” create suggestive images of hidden places in the minds of the listeners. The interplay of clanking, crackling, droning, chirping, chirping, distant melody fragments, barely intelligible scraps of speech, dense veils of sound and electronic alienation create a unique atmosphere. It is music that frees itself from traditional structures and leaves the listener room for their own interpretations.

All in all, with “Catorce reflexiones sobre el fin” Angélica Castelló once again presents herself as an artist with an independent musical idea and vision. Her work is experimental, bold and at the same time captivating. It shows the versatility and creative approach of Angélica Castelló, which allows her to create emotional and imaginative worlds through sounds and music.
