More than a year later, Anker’s GaN chargerIt was officially updated to the third generation today. The new products brought by the manufacturer this time are included in the GaNPrime series, including chargers, power strips and power banks. Anker says it has teamed up with several partners to create longer-lasting, more sustainable products, and in their words GaNPrime is “the smartest, most powerful, and greenest multi-device charging system ever built.”

The new GaNPrime chargers feature Anker’s next-generation PowerIQ technology, which monitors the power needs of each connected device and automatically adjusts the power distribution to each USB-C port at three-minute intervals. According to the manufacturer’s test results, the GaNPrime charger takes 62 minutes to fully charge the 14-inch MacBook Pro at 67W compared to a charger of the same power. At the same time, GaNPrime is compatible with more than 1,000 mobile devices.

On this basis, ActiveShield 2.0 can also adjust the power output of GaNPrime according to the monitored temperature, so as to achieve the purpose of protecting the access device. It is said that the frequency of temperature measurement of the new product has increased by 75%, reaching 3 million times a day. Not only that, Anker also emphasized that the size of GaNPrime is much smaller than that of competing products (for example, the 150W 747 charger is 38% smaller than the 140W Apple charger), and the conversion efficiency of AC to DC power is also increased by 2%. Replacing traditional silicon wafers with GaN semiconductors can also reduce the carbon footprint of the product by 30%.

Specific to different models, the 65W 735 charger has two USB-C and one USB-A port, and the price is US$60. The 737 with a maximum output of 120W (reported to charge a 16-inch MBP in 1.5 hours) is priced at US$95, and it also comes with one USB-A and three USB-Cs. The more powerful 747 can output a total power of 150W, and its port is also a single USB-A plus three USB-C configuration, priced at US$110. Also unveiled are the 615 and 727 Charging Stations, the former with a power of 65W and two additional AC ports, priced at US$70. The latter comes with dual DC, dual USB-C and dual USB-A, and supports wireless charging. Anker claims that it is 50% thinner than traditional power strips, can power up to 100W, and sells for US$95.

Finally, there is a 733 power bank in the GaNPrime family, which can output 65W of AC power and 30W of DC power. This product comes with a single USB-A and dual USB-C ports, and the corresponding price is US$100. At present, this batch of new products has been launched in the United States, and other regions are still to be further confirmed.
