Announcement of Cabinet Members in Pakistan and Election Delay: Latest Updates

Islamabad: Caretaker Prime Minister Anwar ul Haq Kakkar announced the cabinet members in Pakistan. 16 federal ministers, 6 special advisers and 3 advisers took charge yesterday. The oath was taken under the supervision of President Arif Alvi at the Presidential Palace in Islamabad.

Former Foreign Secretary and former Pakistan Ambassador to the US Jalil Abbas Jilani is the Foreign Minister. Finance expert Shamshad Akhtar, who was the first woman governor of the State Bank of Pakistan and vice president of the World Bank, is in charge of finance. Sarfraz Ahmed Bagti, a member of the Senate, is the Home Minister. Retired Lieut. General Anwar Ali Haider is the Defense Minister.


At the same time, the Election Commission has announced that the general election will be delayed till mid-December in the context of the announcement of the redistricting process. Elections were to be held in the country by November.
