While the health benefits of regular physical activity are frequently established by scientific studies, the Government has been committed, since their creation, to the deployment of Sport-Health Houses, a flagship measure of the 2019 national Sport Health strategy. -2024. The recognition of these structures in the Public Health Code, included in the law of March 2, 2022 aimed at democratizing sport in France, made it possible to clarify their role. Their missions consist of both to accompany nearby patients with long-term conditions, chronic illnesses or at risk of loss of autonomy towards a practice of physical activity adapted for therapeutic purposesbut also to contribute to the shift towards prevention, by encouraging the most remote populations to practice regular physical and sporting activity.

Following four successive calls for projects, more than 500 Sport Santé Maisons have been deployed throughout France, in accordance with the objective set in 2017 by the President of the Republic. A survey carried out by the National Institute of Youth and Popular Education (INJEP) last July also indicated the regular progression of the activity of the Maisons Sport Santé, which made it possible tosupporting nearly 400,000 people in recent years, while emphasizing the need to amplify this momentum by allowing them to reach a wider audience as well as stabilize their economic model.

At the dawn of an exceptional year for sport in France, marked by the hosting of the Olympic and Paralympic Games, as well as by the Great National Cause dedicated to physical and sporting activity, the Government reaffirms its commitment to continuing the structuring of the network of Maisons Sport-Santé throughout the territory. In conjunction with health professionals and all stakeholders in the territories, the objective is to make it a sustainable lever of action to promote, throughout France, physical and sporting activity as an essential vector of health public and integrate the provision of physical activity adapted for therapeutic purposes into care pathways.

At the end of their joint trip to the Maison Sport-Santé at the Hôtel Dieu, Assistance Publique-Hôpitaux de Paris hospital, ministers Aurélien Rousseau, Amélie Oudéa-Castéra and Agnès Firmin Le Bodo announced new support measures for Maisons Sport-Santé around three axes:

1. Financial support of 12 million euros from the State to Maisons Sport-Santé in 2024

As part of the finance law for 2024, credits from the Ministry of Sports and the Olympic and Paralympic Games intended for sports-health centers are increased to 6 million (+2 million euros compared to 2023).

The Ministry of Health and Prevention will provide unprecedented support to the Program via credits from the Regional Intervention Fund to the tune of 6 million euros.

2. The launch of a joint IGAS-IGESR inspection mission to sustainably strengthen the economic model of Maisons Sport-Santé

Five years after the first call for projects, the Government wishes to entrust the General Inspectorate of Social Affairs (IGAS) and the General Inspectorate of Education, Sport and Research (IGESR) with a mission aimed at identifying ways and means of consolidating these new structures.

This mission will be responsible in particular for determining the economic models guaranteeing their sustainable intervention in the service of the French, taking into account the need to maintain a plurality of funding. It will be launched in January 2024 by ministers so that the conclusions can be submitted by summer 2024 for possible translation within the framework of the financial laws for 2025.

3. Strengthening the visibility of Maisons Sport-Santé via their referencing on Doctolib

In order for the action of the Sport-Health Maisons to be more visible and known to the general public, all authorized Sport-Health Maisons will be notably referenced on the Doctolib site and application from December 18 and for a period of 12 months.

In addition, two communication actions, which will take place in the weeks of December 18 and January 9, will allow millions of users to access, from the Doctolib home page, useful information on the role of the Houses. Sport-Health.

As part of the Great National Cause 2024 dedicated to the promotion of physical and sporting activity, which constitutes an unprecedented opportunity toaccelerate the shift in health prevention and the promotion of sport and its benefitswork continues between the ministries concerned to improve existing systems and extend their scope. Next January, the Government will unveil new decisions aimed at giving additional impetus to the Sport-Health policy.
