Guest of the show Objection on Sudfm radio (private) yesterday, Sunday January 21, Ndongo Samba Sylla alerted to anomalies in the evolution of voters on the electoral register by region during the period 2019 and 2023.

Ndongo Samba Sylla is sounding the alert on the ongoing electoral process with a view to the presidential election on February 25. Speaking on his latest work co-edited with French journalist Fanny Pigeaud and entitled “De la democracy en Françafrique, Une histoire de l’imperialisme electoral”, during his appearance on the show Objection on Sudfm radio (private) yesterday, Sunday January 21, Ndongo Samba Sylla indicated that the evolution of voters on the electoral register by region shows anomalies during the period 2019 and 2023. “The electoral register was not to the advantage of the opposition. We have seen significant growth in the electorate in areas favorable to power. In areas favorable to the opposition, we found that electoral growth was less. We just have to compare the demographic data from the National Statistics and Demographic Agency (Ansd) and the electoral data from the Ministry of the Interior,” noted Baye guest Oumar Guèye.

Continuing his explanation, Ndongo Samba Sylla indicated that the Dakar region which represented 30% of the electorate in 2012 before the erection of Keur Massar into a department is experiencing low growth in its electoral population compared to Fouta: Podor department and the Matam region which experienced an increase in their electoral population of 150,000 between 2012 and 2019 while they represented 6% of the electorate in 2012 far behind Dakar with “30%). Still in relation to the anomalies that they noted in the evolution of voters on the electoral register by region as part of their work, Ndongo Samba Sylla also questioned the data from the last general census which, according to him, reports that two thirds (2/3) or 60% of the local population in “Fouta” do not have valid documents. “These 60% of the population do not have a valid identification card, no supplementary judgment issued when one has not been declared at birth. When we are faced with this situation, we say to ourselves that this evolution of the electoral population in this northern part of the country is not explainable. There is something wrong,” he insisted.
