ANSES celebrates the 60th anniversary of its Ploufragan-Plouzané-Niort laboratory | handles

Rooted in breeding territories, the laboratory contributes to improving the health and well-being of animals through research and reference activities at its three sites, each with its own specialty: in Brittany, at Ploufragan, poultry, rabbits and pigs and in Plouzané, farmed fish; in New Aquitaine, in Niort, ruminants.

The Ploufragan-Plouzané-Niort Laboratory studies the main diseases that affect the production chains as well as the sanitary quality of the products that come from them. It participates in the fight and prevention of animal diseases, which have strong implications in terms of public health or economic losses.

Due to its history, its scientific and technical resources, its research themes and the results obtained, the Ploufragan-Plouzané-Niort laboratory is an essential pillar of ANSES in its research, assessment and expert appraisal missions in health security service. On the occasion of the celebration of the 60th anniversary of its establishment, the laboratory looks back on the history of its development, the key scientific turning points and the major works carried out as well as its future prospects in order to contribute to defining, as close as possible to the sectors, what will be the breeding of tomorrow in favor of a single health for all, men and animals.

During this day, four round tables will follow one another involving many players in the development of the laboratory on the theme “60 years for animal health and food safety”.

At the end of the morning, the unveiling of the inaugural plaque of the new laboratory building dedicated to the improvement of poultry farming conditions will take place. On the occasion of this anniversary, ANSES will sign a technological partnership agreement with CEA-Tech, the first cooperative works of which will make it possible to optimize the laboratory’s health responsiveness. Finally, two tours will allow you to discover the site and its facilities.
