Anthony Edwards will finally be at the All-Star Game!

Called in reinforcement of the injured with De’Aaron Fox and Pascal Siakam, Anthony Edwards will therefore honor his first selection at the All-Star Game next Sunday. And it’s well deserved for the new leader of Wolves, who is having the best season of his young career.

After injuries to Kevin Durant, Zion Williamson and Stephen Curry, the NBA had to determine their three replacements. The body has decided: Pascal Siakam, De’Aaron Fox and Anthony Edwards will tackle the starry jersey next weekend!

For Ant-Man, it’s a logical reward after a very, very good season in the shoes of a leader. At only 21 years old, the first choice of the 2020 Draft has progressed in all areas and is having the best season of his career. Even if Wolves’ collective balance sheet remains average for the moment (9th in the West with 30 wins for 29 losses), Ant is individually flawless and has seriously step-up in his game in recent months (24.7 points, 6 rebounds and 4.6 assists per game). But above all, there is an impression of leadership and serenity in his game as if he were an already confirmed veteran. Anthony Edwards has matured and despite the very long absence of Karl-Anthony Towns (injured since November 30), he is one of the (only) reasons for satisfaction among Wolves. Without KAT, and now without D’Angelo Russell gone to the Lakers, the back is officially the new boss in Minnesota, the one through whom all the attacks pass. The number 1 was logically congratulated by his teammates when he learned of his selection, and will go to Salt Lake City to benefit from the experience.

“Just be ready to go into the game of course, and shoot as much as possible as soon as I have the ball. One year, I had seen Westbrook catch fire and become MVP, so I will try to do the same (…) All my teammates were happy, we all hugged. I’m happy to live that, because I worked a lot for it. It’s a cool feeling.”

If there were a few micro-doubts in his Draft, Ant swept them all away, justifying his No. 1 status at the same time. Some teams and scouts saw in him a kind of Dion Waiters bis given a somewhat enlightened profile, so today he is All-Star and no one is surprised in the end. Edwards becomes the 8th all-star player in franchise historyfollowing in the footsteps of Kevin Garnett, Sam Cassell or Kevin Love in particular.
