The so-called AR/VR headset has been part of the rumor mill for several years now. We are firmly convinced that the manufacturer from Cupertino is actually working on a corresponding product. The only question is when and in what form the whole thing will be announced. Now there are indications that the development is at an advanced stage.

Apple AR/VR headset presented to board members

Bloomberg reports that the manufacturer demonstrated its AR/VR headset to members of the Apple board of directors last week. This implies that the device is in an advanced stage of development and the headset could be presented in the not too distant future. Recently, the development of the headset software has been intensified. This should be called “RealityOS” or “rOS” for short.

As mentioned at the beginning, Apple has been working on a hybrid headset for several years. This is supposed to be a curved visor and have a soft material that can adapt to the face. It is also expected to be attached to the user’s head with a strap. It should be lighter and more comfortable than comparable headsets that are already on the market.

According to rumors, Apple relies on two 8K micro-LED displays, 15 camera sensors, a powerful processor, Gaze Capture, hand gesture support, 3D audio and more. Bloomberg expects the Apple AR/VR headset to be unveiled by the end of this year, with sales starting in 2023.
