Apple highlights child protection features on Safer Internet Day

Today, february 7this celebrated safe internet dayan initiative of the non-governmental organization SaferNet. This year, it was decided to draw attention to the need to protect children in the online environment; The Apple highlighted the features it offers aimed at protecting the little ones and controlling the use of devices by parents.

The company recalled its commitment to privacy and security, as well as innovations in features that allow it to monitor and limit the use of electronics and the internet by children. On a page aimed at families, Maçã explains how all this works.

There will also be sessions of Today at Apple online and in more than 500 Apple Stores (none in Brazil, unfortunately) entitled “Your Children and Their Devices”. The idea is to teach parents and guardians how to use privacy functions and control the use of iPhones, iPads and other devices by children, making the best possible use of them. A session for educators will also be held.

Several existing functions in its ecosystem, which help to protect children, were recalled by Apple. There’s Family Sharing, which has the ability to limit certain functions for some family members, as well as Time of Use, which monitors how much time is spent on each app — also allowing you to set limits on time and content on each app.

In addition, resources such as Ask to Buy were highlighted, which prevents children from play popping the parents card make purchases without control, as well as the section of apps and games made for children in the App Store.

We still have the Communication Security — not yet available in Brazil — which identifies when images containing nudity are sent to minors and displays alerts, in addition to hiding the content. This function will be expanded to more locales beyond what it currently covers, although it’s not known exactly which countries will gain access to the feature.

At Apple, our goal is to provide people with technology that not only improves and enriches their lives, but also helps them stay safe online. We’re proud to be an official supporter of Safer Internet Day in Europe — and we’ll continue to innovate every day to empower people to protect their families online.
