Apple launches iPads with AI chip

Apple launched new iPads on Tuesday, with major improvements in displays and processors. This was evident from a presentation by the American tech giant.

Apple is particularly highlighting the artificial intelligence capabilities of the new high-end iPad Pro devices. These high-end tablets use the company’s latest processor, the M4. The current iPads have an M2 chip.

The M4 chip has Apple’s fastest Neural Engine, which can perform up to 38 trillion operations per second. That’s faster than the neural processing unit of any AI PC, according to Apple. The M4 is produced using 3-nanometer process technology.

The chip also has a powerful graphics processing unit and faster memory bandwidth, Apple said.

Apple shares barely reacted to the news, given the modest gain of 0.5 percent a few hours before the closing bell on Wall Street.
