Apple launches production of iPhone 14 in India – ICT news

Apple has started producing its iPhone 14, the company’s latest smartphone model, in India. Previously, this production took place mainly in China.

In recent times, the American brand had been working with its suppliers to increase production at the factory in Chennai, in southern India. The main maker of iPhones, Taiwanese technology group Foxconn, investigated how parts could be shipped from China. The assembly of the phones then takes place in India.

US sanctions against China, intended to reduce the economic power of the country, have indeed pushed Apple to seek alternatives. The strict confinements due to the coronavirus pandemic which have disrupted the Chinese economy have also forced the Apple brand to move its production capacities elsewhere.

Relations between China and America have been strained for many years. In 2021, the US Senate had also accepted huge investments to reduce the economic power of China, especially in the field of technology. President Joe Biden has also expanded the list of Chinese companies that are no longer allowed to invest in.
