Apple has warned app and game developers who haven’t updated their apps in more than two years, saying they risk being removed from the App Store.
This change is part of Apple’s plans to improve the App Store that aims to make their online store easier to use. including helping users “Find a good app that meets your needs”, which is compatible with the latest iOS compatible devices.
An email sent to the developer states that “This app hasn’t been updated in a long time. And it’s scheduled to be removed from sale within 30 days, so you don’t need to take any action. to keep the app available to users who have I downloaded the app before.” This means that the app will be deleted anyway.
Apple added in an email that “You can continue to make this app available to new users and stay on the App Store downloads page by submitting an update to us for review within 30 days. 30 days, the app will be removed from sale immediately.”
Apple confirmed that the change will affect every app on the App Store, not just the game app. And if an Apple employee encounters a problem with the app, Apple will contact the developer immediately.
“To help our customers find great apps that meets the needs more easily We want to make sure that the apps available in the App Store are viable and up-to-date. We are continuing our app evaluation process. and will take steps towards broken or outdated apps,” Apple said.
Now ICYMI can pass new EU legislation. That will force Apple to allow users to install third-party apps on their devices. Also known as the sideload process itself.
This law is known as the Digital Markets Act (DMA), but it has not yet been approved by the European Parliament. But if this law is actually accepted It will be enforced by October 2022, meaning Apple will be forced to do what the company has strongly resisted. as this may compromise the security of that system.
