Foundation, launched in 2021 by Apple TV Plus, will finally be entitled to a second season. This one, revealed earlier this year, also benefits from several trailers. And the latest portends epic sci-fi warfare like those seen in Star Wars and Star Trek. So far, Apple was planning a release in the second quarter of 2023. But the company has just given an exact release date, scheduled for mid-July.
To celebrate the event, Apple also released a new trailer. We can see Brother Day and Hari Seldon (his AI, at least), as well as their respective camps in the impending galactic conflict. And, if we are to believe the dangers incurred by the protagonists, the battles could well be as epic as grand.
Foundation: Apple TV Plus reveals the synopsis of the second season
In a press release, Apple has revealed many details regarding season 2 of Foundation. Apple TV Plus says: “More than a century after the first season finaletension is rising throughout the galaxy in the second season of Foundation […] As the Cleons crumble, a vengeful queen plots to destroy the Empire from within.”
The synopsis reads:Hari, Gaal, and Salvor discover a colony of Mentalics with psionic abilities that threaten to alter psychohistory itself. The Foundation has entered its religious phase, enacting the Church of Seldon across the Outer Reach and causing the Second Crisis: the war with the Empire. The monumental adaptation of Foundation tells the story of four pivotal individuals who transcend space and time as they overcome deadly crises, shifting loyalties and complicated relationships that will ultimately determine the fate of mankind“.
The Foundation series is a television adaptation of the famous series of science fiction novels of the same name written by the writer Isaac Asimov. The first season of the series consists of ten episodes. Apple TV Plus has not specified the number of episodes that will make up this second season.
