The US state of hawaii is facing a real tragedy caused by forest fires. According to information from CNNso far 55 people have lost their lives and several thousand have had to leave their homes.

The most affected region is the island of Maui, where some factors have made it difficult to fight fires, from the geography of the place to the current climate in the region. To contribute to the recovery efforts, the CEOChief executive officeror executive director.”>1 da Apple, Tim Cooktoday announced a new donation on behalf of the company.

Our hearts go out to the families who lost loved ones and everyone affected by the devastating wildfires in Maui and the island of Hawaii. We are deeply grateful to all first responders. Apple will donate to immediate relief and long-term recovery efforts.

This is the second such donation that Cook has announced this month; last week, the executive also disclosed that the company would help China in its recovery after the passage of typhoon Doksuri.

It’s worth noting that the same wildfires in Hawaii once made headlines here on MacMagazine this week for having involved a family that made use of the SOS Emergency feature via satellite to save themselves from a place engulfed by flames.
