LOS ANGELES (AP) — Argentine goalkeeper Nahuel Guzmán saved a pair of penalties and Tigres defeated Los Angeles FC 4-2 on Wednesday to win the Campeones Cup
After the match ended goalless in 90 minutes, the winner had to be determined from the 11th step, where Guzmán stopped attempts by Timothy Tillman and Ryan Hollingshead to give the Mexican club the victory.
The French André-Pierre Gignac, the Argentines Nicolás Ibáñez and Guido Pizarro, as well as Jesús Angulo were right for Tigres, which is the first team to win two crowns in this tournament that pits the MLS monarch against the League Champion of Champions MX.

It was the second time that the university team defeated Mexican Carlos Vela’s LAFC in a final. The previous one was in the 2020 Champions League final.
Both teams finished with 10 players. The local team suffered the expulsion of Ecuadorian Diego Palacios in the 61st minute and the Mexicans in the 85th minute, when Brazilian Rafael Carioca was sent off.
