Ariège: a biker kills himself trying to escape the gendarmes

A 20-year-old biker died on Tuesday in Ariège following refusing to stop during a gendarmerie check, we learned from the Foix prosecutor’s office. “In Saint-Girons, the gendarmes noticed that the motorcycle (a small displacement, 125 cm3) did not have a license plate. They asked him to stop but he refused to comply, ”said a magistrate from the Foix prosecution.

According to the noon dispatch, the facts would have taken place around 3:15 p.m. The young man “was then chased by the gendarmes, who remained at a distance, and on arriving in the village of Engomer, a few kilometers from Saint-Girons, he took a small street and fell”, added the magistrate.

Died in the ambulance

The biker, from the Toulouse region according to the regional daily, died in the ambulance which transported him to the hospital of Saint-Girons.

The gendarmes “would not be responsible for the fall of the young man”, indicated the deputy prosecutor to the Dépêche du midi, who added that the Foix prosecutor’s office had opened an investigation for “search for the causes of death”.
