Arles: women in the spotlight at the Rencontres de la photographie until September 25

In various exceptional sites of the city, Arles invites each year to discover the work of many photographers. This summer, Les Rencontres is embarking on a process of recognizing women photographers.

In particular with the exhibition A feminist avant-garde presenting photographs and performances from the 1970s with more than 200 works by 71 female artists! The event will also be innovative with the first monographic exhibition of the artist Bettina Grossman and will initiate reflection on the work of Noemie Goudal on “deep time”, paleoclimatology and geographical relationships.

Susan Meiselas et Marta Gentiluccimeanwhile, will reveal their work on the skin and gestures of aging women. Babette Mangolte with her series titled Capturing Motion in Space was voted the winner of the 2022 Women in Motion Award, acknowledging her remarkable career.
