With this watch in a limited edition of 50 pieces, Armin Strom continues its watchmaking revolution with a design that only the independent watchmaker from Biel/Bienne is capable of creating: the exploitation of the physical, almost magical phenomenon of resonance .
Apparent movement is the key element of Mirrored Force Resonance. Once again, Armin Strom shows that he is the only watchmaker in the world who knows how to use resonance perfectly in a wristwatch. Thanks to its unique technology, developed and manufactured in-house, the independent watchmaker is able to synchronize two movements in a single watch in order to offer greater chronometric precision and consistency.

But first let’s take a look at the new off-center green dial, which has a grained textured finish. For the industrial green color, Armin Strom was inspired by some old equipment still used in conjunction with contemporary state-of-the-art machinery in its fully integrated factory. “We chose this green because it goes very well with the polished and decorated parts of the exposed movement. And the finish of the graining contrasts with the polished indexes. This rough, frost-like surface reflects light slightly, without overdoing it. It does not monopolize attention and does not take over the movement”, explains Claude Greisler, master watchmaker and co-founder of Armin Strom.
The visible movement that surrounds the green dial is a wonderful illustration of the mastery of artisanal decoration techniques by the watchmakers at Armin Strom. The 3D balance bridges and all chamfers are hand polished. The surfaces surrounding the dial are also worked by hand with finishes such as graining, perlage or strapping. All the parts of the movement, including those that are not visible, are meticulously decorated by hand, a skill that sometimes takes ten times longer than the manufacture of the part itself. In addition, the movement is assembled by hand twice to guarantee impeccable quality.

Armin Strom is the only watchmaker who manages to fully harness the power of resonance, a phenomenon that has fascinated watchmakers around the world since the 17th century. This scientific phenomenon occurs naturally insofar as two bodies vibrating at a similar frequency automatically converge on a common frequency. And when two bodies vibrate in resonance, whether radio waves, quantum physics or clockwork, they are more precise, more solid, more stable and more resistant than taken in isolation.
Instead of waiting for nature to produce a state of resonance between the two balance wheels, Claude Greisler and his team invented the Resonance disengageable spring, which was first presented in 2016 after years of research and experimentation. This patented, ingeniously flexible spring directly connects the hairsprings, thus maintaining the two balance wheels in a perfect state of resonance. The rapidly oscillating spring and the two balance wheels that rotate in both directions also provide a surprising and fascinating kinetic spectacle on the side of the dial.

“The aim of this watch is to achieve the greatest possible precision. And as a watchmaker, I find that a handmade decoration arouses a lot of emotions. It’s a way for the watchmaker to express himself and add his personal touch to the movement of a watch,” explains Claude Greisler. “It’s not essential, but thanks to handmade decoration and original details such as a green grained dial, a watch can become a true work of art”.
