KIRKWOOD — Police on Wednesday arrested a sex offender who was found in Kirkwood with a 16-year-old girl who had run away from her home in North Carolina.
Christopher Porter, 30, is charged with second-degree statutory rape, second-degree statutory sodomy, second-degree possession of child pornography and sexual exploitation of a minor.
Police said officers around 5:30 p.m. approached a suspicious vehicle in the Lowe’s parking lot in the 1200 block of South Kirkwood Road.
They said while they were speaking with Porter, they spotted the teen inside his car.
She told police she was a 16-year-old runaway from North Carolina. They later determined she had been missing since Oct. 13, court documents said.
Officers arrested Porter, who is a registered sex offender in California.
Investigators say Porter met the girl online about two months ago and drove from Oklahoma to North Carolina to meet the girl.
Porter was in jail Thursday in St. Louis County on a $500,000 cash-only bond.
