The court issued an arrest warrant for members of Lee Jae-myung’s presidential campaign who are suspected of interfering with a key witness’s perjury in the illegal political funding trial of Kim Yong, former vice president of the Korea Institute for Democracy.

Lee Min-soo, chief judge in charge of warrants at the Seoul Central District Court, said on the 15th that Mr. Park (45) and Mr. Seo (44) are accused of inciting perjury to Mr. Lee (64), former head of the Gyeonggi Metropolitan City Commerce Promotion Agency, who appeared as a witness in the trial of Kim Yong and gave false testimony. He is said to have testified to the effect that “we discussed it.” May 3, 2021, which Mr. Lee mentioned, is the date on which the prosecution suspects that Mr. Yong Kim met with Mr. Yoo Dong-gyu and received illegal political funds. The prosecution suspects that Mr. Park and others attempted to conceal the crime by creating a false alibi through perjury by Mr. Lee.
