The Civil Guard of Casas Ibáñez has arrested a person residing in the province of Albacete as the alleged perpetrator of a crime of fraud, another of forgery of public documents and a third of usurpation of marital status. The detainee, who has a police record for similar events, falsified documents related to the contracting of several automobile insurance policies to obtain an economic benefit from them.
In July 2021, a vehicle insurance company reported after being affected in the compensation of an accident. Furthermore, finding inconsistencies in his actions and suspecting that the traffic accident had been planned, he hired a detective agency. Likewise, the Civil Guard initiated a more exhaustive investigation, detecting that the same accident vehicle had already suffered a previous accident of the same characteristics.
The detainee ran a mechanical workshop and took advantage of the vehicle, whose destination was his administrative leave, to falsify a sales contract, try to simulate an accident and collect casualty insurance that he had previously contracted. However, the Civil Guard found that the purchase agreement was irregular, since the vehicle was transferred to the detainee without the consent of the former owner, usurping his identity.
Thus, it is estimated that the detainee could have defrauded the insurance company of around 17,100 euros in the event that the insurance had not suspected his intentions and the Civil Guard had not investigated the facts. The proceedings initiated, together with the detainee, were made available to the Court of Instruction of Casas Ibáñez.
