Ars Electronica: Honzik moves to Dubai, Liebl takes over

Veronika Liebl is taking over the management of the “Festival Prix Exhibitions” area, which she previously shared with Honzik. She remains head of European cooperation and authorized representative of Ars Electronica GmbH & Co KG, the company announced to the city of Linz on Tuesday.

Honzik was initially an artist in the Ars Electronica Futurelab and from 2006 director of the Ars Electronica Festival, most recently also chief curator. “His conviction that a media art festival should not hide in ivory towers, but must push out, into public space and reach out to people, has shaped the character of Ars Electronica and led to numerous spectacular actions,” thanked the artistic director Gerfried Stocker, the long-time mastermind of the festival.

Liebl “made Ars Electronica a leading player in the European Union network, helped shape the development of Ars Electronica and contributed a lot to the professionalization of our company,” says commercial director Markus Jandl, who sees her as a driver in the company’s development together with her Team, especially deputy and technical director Karl Julian Schmidinger and festival director Christl Baur. She is extremely looking forward to “writing the next chapters in Ars Electronica’s success story” together with her team, said Liebl.
