In the 24th minute of the first half, Arsenal drew one with Liverpool in the first leg of the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup (League Cup) in England.
Arsenal drew 0-0 with no goals in the first half in the first leg of the 2021-22 League Cup semi-final first leg at Anfield, Liverpool, England on the 14th (Korean time).
Originally, the first leg of the semi-final between Arsenal and Liverpool was held last week, and the second game was scheduled for that day, but the schedule was delayed by a week due to the number of confirmed cases of the novel coronavirus infection (COVID-19) in Liverpool. The second leg of the two teams will be played at Arsenal’s home game on the 21st. Chelsea stand first in the final, awaiting the winner of the second leg between Arsenal and Liverpool.
Arsenal received a red card immediately after defending with their feet high behind the striker while Granit Xhaka stopped the counterattack in the 24th minute of the first half. However, Liverpool were unable to score a goal after Mohammed Salah and Sadio Mane were absent for the Africa Cup of Nations, and the match ended in a scoreless draw.
Liverpool’s Japanese attacking midfielder Takumi Minamino stood out, but the balance of zero was not broken. In the 13th minute of the first half, Minamino threw a ground cross from the opponent’s left flank toward the front of the goal, but the ball slightly hit Arsenal defender Ben White’s protruding toe, and the ball was misdirected and did not reach the goal. In the second minute, he also broke through the left flank and threatened the opponent’s goal with a direct mid-range shot.
The most decisive scene came in the 44th minute of the second half. Minamino scored two goals in the League Cup round of 32 match against Norwich City this season, and scored an equalizer in extra time in the second half against Leicester City in the quarterfinals, showing a particularly strong side in the League Cup match.
On that day, Liverpool lacked decisiveness despite unilaterally pushing Arsenal with 77%-23% of attack possession and 17-3 shots. The number of shots was 17-3, but the shots on effect were not different by either team, one by one.
