Arturo Michelena Ambulatory: Providing Essential Healthcare to 1,400 Families in Catia La Mar

More than 1,400 families from the Catia La Mar parish, La Guaira state, will benefit from the health services provided by the reopened Arturo Michelena Ambulatory, located in San Remo, Las Tunitas, thanks to the social work carried out by the Military Community Brigades for the Education and Health (Bricomiles).

“There are more than 1,400 beneficiary families who will be able to count on medical care, vaccination, gynecology, humanized childbirth and family planning,” reported the sectoral vice president for Science, Technology, Education and Health, Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez, this Saturday from this popular health center , created by the Bolivarian Government.

He specified that the work was restored to one hundred percent with waterproofing works, conditioning of spaces with sanitary pieces, replacement of windows and glass, external and internal painting of walls, equipment of medical and non-medical material, among others.

“The Military Community Brigades are the voluntary work of the people with the Armed Forces, that social fabric necessary to guarantee the preservation, conservation and restoration of all health spaces where we multiply life as an exercise of sovereignty, defense of the rights of our people, that the sanctions have wanted to rob us of”, the sectoral vice president stated.

Coercive measures against health

He recalled that Venezuela was subjected to Unilateral Coercive Measures (MCU) that prevented the provision of important vaccines. However, today Venezuelans have the necessary vaccines, and it is the popular clinics that promote health promotion and prevention.

“I insist on vaccination because in 2017 we did not have vaccines for the people and the sanctions made us go back to 1935 because we did not have the necessary doses to prevent diseases. Today our exercise of sovereignty and defense of the homeland involves acquiring vaccines for our people, ”he emphasized.

The also Minister of Science and Technology, highlighted that the President of the Republic, Nicolás Maduro, and the Ministry of Popular Power for Health (MPPS) in charge of Minister Magaly Gutiérrez, carry out a titanic work in terms of prevention and care of the health of Venezuelans.

The sectoral vice-president, Gabriela Jiménez Ramírez, specified that the spaces of the Arturo Michelena Ambulatory will also be a classroom for the students of the Hugo Chávez University of Health Sciences, where doctors and nurses are trained.

“The exercise of building political fabric and participation with the leaders, the Barrio Adentro Foundation and the health authority in our communities, is the necessary contact so that we are clear about where we should direct our basic health actions and policies,” he said.

The opening day was attended by the Bolivarian National Armed Forces (FANB), the mayor of the Vargas de La Guaira municipality, José Manuel Suárez, and the Single Health Authority, Dr. Nelare Bermúdez.
