“As custodians of the Minerva legacy, our strategy revolves around continuity”

As guardians of the Minerva legacy, our strategy revolves around continuity, focusing on very clear elements of our storytelling, such as the mountain and glacier theme, with identifiable and differentiating elements. We continue our journey of associating powerful and authentic stories with each of our products, so that they have real meaning for our customers. Although we have three levels of movements which serve slightly different purposes – ranging from movements in our main collection to Minerva, all play a part in the continuity of Montblanc’s storytelling. Continuity does not necessarily mean immobility. It’s about nurturing Minerva’s craftsmanship and being constantly inspired to create new things from its extraordinary heritage. It pushes us to think about how we can innovate while staying true to our brand expression, especially with Villeret where we have so many opportunities to continue to surprise. The timepiece Unveiled Timekeeper Minerva, on which the recognizable Minerva fluted bezel has become functional to activate the chronograph, is a perfect example.

Montblanc watches will be more about technique, innovation and storytelling than about producing more new timepieces every year. As for Montblanc’s presence on the second-hand market, it particularly concerns our top-of-the-range complications, the number of which was very limited and which were therefore no longer available, hence their great desirability among collectors. For example, we can take the Metamorphosis, which was only made in five copies given its two-month assembly process per part, limiting the production time. Therefore, if you’re lucky, the second-hand market is probably your only way to find such a watch.
