Dhaka: India won their third consecutive win in the Women’s Asia Cup T20. Indian women defeated UAE in the third match. India won by 104 runs. Batting first, India scored 178 runs for the loss of 5 wickets in the stipulated over. In reply, UAE’s struggle ended with just 74 runs for the loss of four wickets in 20 overs.

Smriti Mandana led the team while Harmanpreet Kaur was rested. India won the toss and went into bat. Jemima Rodrigues and Deepti Sharma scored half-centuries for India.

India lost three wickets while scoring 20 runs. But Deepti and Jemima, who came together in the fourth wicket, put up a century partnership and won the stage. Jemima remained unbeaten on 75 off 45 balls with 11 fours. Deepti scored 64 runs off 49 balls with five fours and two sixes.

Sabhineni Meghna (10), Richa Ghosh (nil), Dayalan Hemalatha (two) and Pooja Vastrakar (13) are the players out. Kiran Prabhu Navagire remained unbeaten on 10 runs.

Things became easier for India as the UAE women, who came out looking for victory in the reply batting, went into over-defence. The team’s top scorer is Kavisha Egodage who remained unbeaten on 30 runs off 54 balls. Khushi Sharma, who scored 29 runs off 50 balls, also held on. At the end of the game, captain Chhaya Mughal was at the crease with Kavisha for six runs. Opener Theertha Sathish (one run), Isha Osa (four) and Natasha Cheriyath (nil) were the other players dismissed.

Rajeshwari Gaekwad took two wickets for India. Dayalan Hemalatha took a wicket.
