Assault on Scouts: Uncovering the Disturbing Incident at Bouillon Camp

The scouts were visited by a group of young people with bad intentions. The latter allegedly assaulted some scouts.

“Last night, I was informed at 2:30 a.m. that an altercation had taken place earlier in the night in a scout camp, explains the mayor of Bouillon, Patrick Adam, on his Facebook page. A group of young people, external to the camp, came to their camp with quarrelsome intentions.

The police, warned earlier, went on the spot, before my arrival, and they began their investigation.

I, too, went there as well as Alderman Frank Istace at 2:30 am.

Scouts shocked, camp over

The mayeur continues: “Meetings took place with the scouts, shocked, which is understandable. Another meeting was held with a police patrol. I stayed until 5:15 am in order to wait for the arrival of relatives and a person in charge of the city where the young people came from. I thank the alderman of the Youth of this City for his collaboration.”

Following these acts, the scouts, originally from Flanders, decided to “end their camp, considering themselves no longer safe. The City tried to do its best to support them in this decision (loan of a vehicle, also the presence of Mr. Camp and the head of works, provision of premises, etc.). The children arrived safely at home. That’s the main thing.”

The mayor of Bouillon, who said he was tired of this kind of incivility, ended by condemning them; “These acts of aggression, if proven to be true by the investigation, are regrettable, lamentable and are the act of a minority. The police are investigating, I hope that the investigation will succeed and that if there are grounds for prosecution there are; I have no doubt that justice will take up the case. I remind you that living together, respect for everyone, respect for our rights but also for our duties are essential in our society.”
