Asteroid Aimed at Earth – Janayugom Online

The asteroid is coming towards the earth. The U.S. space agency, NASA, has warned that it will approach Earth on Monday. The 1608-foot asteroid 388945 (2008 TZ3) will pass close to Earth at 2.48 am on the 16th.

The smaller planet is larger than the Empire State Building, the Eiffel Tower and the Statue of Liberty in New York. If it falls to the ground it can cause great damage. But scientists estimate it will pass about 2.5 million miles from Earth.

Asteroids are debris from planets. These will be orbiting in space. This is not the first time the asteroid 388945 has approached Earth. By May 2020, it had covered a distance of 1.7 million miles. Astronomers say the asteroid’s orbit the Earth every two years as it orbits the Sun.

The next time the asteroid will pass away is in May 2024 at a distance of 6.9 million miles. 2163 will pass a little closer than this time. NASA warns that large asteroids could be dangerous if they reach 4.65 million miles from Earth. Scientists have been warning for decades that some giant asteroids could be dangerous to Earth.
