Aston Martin Prepares for 2024: Reflections on the 2023 Season and Outlook for the Future

The impression left by a second part of the season in regression is not the one that persists in the minds of Aston Martinas we prepare for 2024. Certainly the English team has slipped to fifth place in the constructors’ championship after having for a time been the second force on the field, but it is the overall result which left its mark.

This is what Mike Krack assures, also galvanized by the surge of his team during the last Grands Prix of the year. A valuable period to understand the path to follow with the future single-seater.

“We are not approaching 2024 with a hangover from 2023”he promises. “Quite the contrary. This season, and particularly the last Grands Prix, has been very positive for us, with valuable lessons that will be transferred to the 2024 car. We are not fighting with doubts.”

“We understood the car at the end of the season, but it would be a mistake to say that we understood absolutely everything about the AMR23. We understood a lot of things, we know what we want to do for 2024 and the direction that we have to take with next year’s car, but that doesn’t necessarily mean that we will arrive at the first Grand Prix in Bahrain next year to fight for victory.

That his team is progressing, Mike Krack has absolutely no doubt, but he recalls the law of competition which reigns in Formula 1 and the necessarily relative dependence on the work of other teams.

“We are facing formidable competitors, and the big question mark during the winter is always to know what kind of work the other teams have put in. There is a lot of suspense. We always wonder if we have done any enough. Either way, the loop is always the same: if the car hits the track and we haven’t done enough, then we have to work hard to improve. And if we’ve done enough, then “We have to work hard to improve further. That’s the only recipe that works in Formula 1.”
