Emiliano Martínez’s Aston Villa beat Bournemouth 3-1, on matchday 34 of the 2024 Premier League, at Villa Park in Birmingham. With two great saves from Draw, the Villains achieved a great victory that allows them to continue dreaming of qualifying for the next Champions League. Below, I relived the best of the game.

In a week in which it has been practically confirmed that England will not have an additional place for the next edition of the Champions League, Aston Villa moved towards achieving fourth place with a comeback against Bournemouth.

The Villains did not notice the fatigue of having played an extra period plus penalties in Lille, to qualify for the semifinals of the Conference League, and beat the already saved Bournemouth, who, even so, did not make things easy for them and took the lead with a penalty by Dominic Solanke in which Dibu Martínez guessed the intention, but was unable to cover it.

The comeback was started by Morgan Rogers, with an individual play in which he sat down a defender and shot at the near post. Already in the second half, Moussa Diaby took advantage of an assist from Ollie Watkins to make it 2-1 and the English striker added one more goal assist by dribbling over the goalkeeper and letting him finish alone at will to Leon Bailey.

After this match, Villa consolidates its position in fourth place with 66 points, six points more than Tottenham, which has two games less. Bournemouth, saved for a long time, is thirteenth with 42 points. There are four dates left and anything can happen in the Premier League.
