Damascus, Jan 3 (EFE) .- At least five soldiers died and another twenty were injured in a missile attack perpetrated by the jihadist group Islamic State (IS) against a military bus in one of the most violent actions of the extremist organization in recent months in the east of the country, the official Syrian news agency SANA reported on Monday.
“At around 7:00 p.m. (5:00 p.m. GMT) on January 2, a military transport bus was attacked by a terrorist missile attack in the area, located 50 km east of the third station in the Syrian Badia by a group of the terrorist organization EI, “an anonymous military source told the agency.
The source explained that “the attack was followed by bursts of 23-millimeter cannon shots, which caused the death of five soldiers and wounded another twenty,” without giving further details.
So far, no group has claimed responsibility for this missile action.
The attack took place in the vast desert of Badía, where the remnants of IS is concentrated about three years after its territorial defeat in Syria and where Damascus troops often launch offensives against these cells with air support from their ally. Russia.
