The Brazilian coach praised the team for what they have achieved so far in the semester.
Atlético Nacional entered the semifinal of the Betplay Cup this Wednesday after beating Águilas Doradas 2-1 and 5-1 on aggregate in the quarterfinals.
After this great result, coach William Amaral valued the classification to the next stage and praised the work that the team and especially the young people have done this semester.
“We are stronger as the days go by. We have a unique idea, for everyone and from everyone and that helps a lot. There is a full understanding of the principles and despite the changes the team responds,” the Brazilian commented at the beginning.
Regarding why he did not put Robert Mejía and Jhon Duque together, he answered: “Robert and Jhon already played together and did well. When we decide to prepare for a match, there are several factors we think about. Depending on the opponent, the field, the moment, what the competition is. “They are both two players who play the same role.”
For his part, he referred to the low attendance at the Atanasio Girardot: “I asked why the stadium was so empty and these are things that one does not understand because we are facing the biggest team in Colombia. It’s a shame because we need the fans. A team without fans is not a team and that is why we try to show good play so that people come to the field.”
In addition, he praised the work of Dorlan Pabón and Óscar Perea, who scored against Águilas, and also valued the work of Samuel Velásquez: “Dorlan has a lot of energy and Óscar is a certainty for Nacional despite his youth. Dorlan is the group leader. “Samuel knows the idea and that helps make decisions, they are kids with many qualities and they are certainties on the team.”
