Long have us Attic let wait. After seven years of waiting, they appear on stage again and tell us scary stories. Hardly anything has changed in the band’s direction. The appearance is characterized by dark, occult lyrics and the high head voice of Master Cagliostro.
The musical mood and the singing voice naturally carry our thoughts further to the audible example King Diamond. Of course there are other bands that pay homage to this great role model Attic Each of the previous albums seems perfect and exactly to the point.

Role models and further development

In addition, they are not in the earthy direction of Mercyful Fate tend, but the metallic creation of King Diamond with influences from black metal. So, despite musical proximity, you don’t get along with bands like that Them or Portrait in the way because Attic Bring your own mix and style.

Whether the band faces the inevitable comparisons with the grandmaster King Diamond We don’t know if you like it or find it annoying. But they should take it as high praise. So it’s a mystery to me Attic Although they are well known, they are not yet playing at the same level as the musical role model internationally.

On to the witch hunt

Start in an atmospheric way Attic with the instrumental The Covenant their journey around the medieval stories of pacts with the devil, secret rites and witch hunts. After the start, gallop with the pact Attic fresh with Darkest Rites of that. Master Cagliostro sometimes tells in a dark, throaty voice or lets the verses end with high, sharp screams. Who no King Diamond If you’re younger, you won’t be happy with the third album either. Everyone else, and that includes me, can HERE allow yourself to be enchanted by the dark rites.

Black metallic shades

While the start of the album was still quite traditional heavy metal, the band joins in Hailstorm and Tempest really from the leather. The dense drums furiously symbolize the hailstorm and bring in a touch of black metal that makes your heart skip a beat.

But the band not only pushes the pedal, but also stomps along The Thief’s Candle powerful in a doomy direction. Change is called for when the Witchfinder enters the stage. Return of the Witchfinder brings banging drums, beautiful dueling twin guitars and turns into the well-deserved title track. You can watch the musical spectacle HERE listen.

Scary until the finale

Attic don’t let up. This affects both the quality and the breadth of content. There are emotional introductions like this Offerings To Baalberithgreat melodies and guitars Azrael and a scary organ concert Up in the Castle.

Even if The Baleful Baron does not set any new accents, it was nevertheless successful before Horrible Synod the final is coming up. Throw again Attic all trademarks in the bowl. The band falls into fast parts, the guitars delight and Master Cagliostro spans everything with his epic, high-pitched voice.

Conclusion
Attic are returning for the third time with eerie and beautiful medieval stories. Return of the Witchfinder combines great guitars, black metallic excursions and the epic high organ of Master Cagliostro a compulsory program to which only the enemies of the head voice will capitulate. 8,5 / 10
