Audits for POS and cash register interface have begun 2024-04-05 16:08:29

The controls initially started with 1,072 businesses with a turnover of more than 1 million euros, but in the coming days they are going to be extended to the rest of the businesses regardless of turnover. AADE has already started communication with the obliged enterprises that did not comply with the schedules, in order to establish whether the delay in the interconnection procedures is due to force majeure or negligence.

It is recalled that those businesses that do not complete the interconnection of the POS with the cash registers are faced with fines of 10,000 euros if they keep simple books and 20,000 euros if they keep double books. These fines are halved for businesses established in settlements with a population of up to 500 inhabitants and on islands with a population of up to 3,100 inhabitants (excluding tourist). In case of recurrence within five years, the fines are doubled and for each subsequent violation they are tripled.

At the same time, in order not to create congestion during the last days of April, AADE yesterday sent an email to over 100,000 businesses that have a scheduled appointment with an installation technician within the month. The message informed that “in case the technician contacts you with the purpose of connecting you on a date earlier than the scheduled appointment, please proceed with the connection, as in the event of the technician’s inability to respond on the scheduled day, especially if it is the last days of his of April, there is a risk of not fulfilling the interconnection obligation within the set deadline”.

Finally, it is recalled that from April 1, checks began on professionals and businesses in the 35 retail sectors (taxi, street markets, kiosks, etc.), which are required to have POS installed and accept card transactions. Those liable who have not done so are now faced with the imposition of a fine of 1,500 euros per violation.
